For Later

October 13, 2008 at 7:25 pm (Inspiration)

I’m reading the book The Shack and I just wanted to share a quote from it.  I’ll probably be sharing more but here’s one that spoke to me.

A character in the book is dealing with the kidnapping and possible death of his little girl while out camping with her and his 2 other kids.   The father is having all these doubts and questions about God and why He let this happen.  Papa (which is the character of God) says, “I didn’t tell you so you would understand right now.  I told you for later.”

How true is that?  There are times when we doubt God’s love because bad things happen to us.  But there is a reason.  We may not see the reason now but God may chose to reveal that reasonto us- later.

The Eagle and the Wolf

October 1, 2008 at 6:01 pm (Inspiration)

Last night at Day 3 the speaker told us about a sign he read at a rehab center he spoke at once. It said:

There is a great battle that rages inside me. One side is the soaring eagle. Everything the eagle stands for is good and true and beautiful, and it soars above the clouds. Even though it dips down into the valleys, it lays its eggs on the mountaintops. The other side of me is the howling wolf. And that raging, howling wolf represents the worst that’s in me. He eats upon my downfalls and justifies himself by his presence in the pack. Who wins this great battle? The one I feed.

I thought this was so good so I thought I’d share it.
