This last weekend a group of us went to a friend’s lakehouse at Grand Lake. We had a blast! I am so thankful and so blessed to have such amazing friends!
Saturday night my parents had some of our family over for dinner and to hang out. I got to spend a lot of time with my niece and nephew. I had the most fun EVER with Hailee! She is so precious! It got me to thinking: I cannot imagine how much a parent must love their children…cause I love this little girl more than anything! Here are a few pictures from the night.

Craig recently did a series called Kaleo. This message series was directed towards me. The verse he gave to go along with the series was 1 Peter 2:21- “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”
The word Kaleo is the Greek word for called. It also means to invite, to call by name, or to summon . In the series Craig named 4 things we are called to: Called to Care, Called to Generosity, Called to Serve, and Called to Make Disciples (the last 2 are the ones that are exactly what I feel called to). All of that to say, here is my new tattoo I got on Thursday. It is on my left wrist.
Tomorrow Swanky Panky Designs will have a booth set up at a craft fair. It’s at Shartel Church of God in Moore. The address is 11600 S. Western Avenue in Oklahoma City. It will be from 9-4. There will be over 50 booths set up. I’d love to see you!
At church we are going through a series called Practical Atheist. Craig defined practical atheist as someone who believes in God, but lives as if He doesn’t exist- not quite the definition I had in mind, but ok. Then he goes on to say that a practical atheist believes in God but doesn’t fear Him. Fear God? Why would we fear God?
Obviously I didn’t know what fearing God really meant. I’ve been doing some studying on what it means and here’s what I’ve come up with: fearing God means having a reverent awe of Him. Now THAT’S what I’m talking about- being brought to our knees because of who He is and what He does for us. Good stuff!
Craig continued by saying that when we truly fear God we will serve him wholeheartedly without any conditions and that we will be forever ruined. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is in Genesis 22 when Abraham is tested. God told him to sacrifice his only son as a burnt offering. As he took a knife to kill his son God says in verse 12, “Do not lay a hand on the boy. Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God , because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” In otherwords, now I know you are in reverent awe of God because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son. It also shows that Abraham was willing to serve him wholeheartedly without any conditions.
This weekend as I was climbing and hiking, I felt a certain fear of God. Seeing His creation and just taking it in and being still created this amazing awe of who He is. It was so awesome to think that all of it was created for our pleasure. Man- what an awesome God we serve!
I have been wanting to go hiking for a couple of months now so David and I decided Saturday would be a good day to go. I really had no idea we actually had mountains in Oklahoma…but we do!
While trying to find where we were going, we stumbled onto the coolest little town EVER! It’s called Medicine Park. We drove through it and it was so cool. It was full of houses made of cobblestone. We went to Mt. Scott in Lawton which is the Wichita Mountains. I could not believe how mountainous it was. I’ve lived here all my life and had no clue! We drove up the side of Mt. Scott. At the top, there was all kinds of climbing you can do. So we climbed around up there for a while. It was absolutely beautiful up there! And we could not have asked for a more perfect day! After that we drove to Mt. Elk and hiked it.
We had such an amazing time! It gave us a good chance to spend some quality time together while enjoying God’s awesome creation. Here are some pics:
