David and I have been talking about getting married. When we originally started talking about it, we planned on doing it sometime in September. We talked about it a week ago and were unsure about when we would be able to do it financially. He wants to be in better shape financially and we weren’t sure how we’d afford a wedding and a ring and all the stuff that goes along with that.
Sunday night at our lifegroup we were discussing disappointments in our lives and David mentioned how we are wanting to get married but just don’t see how that’s going to happen. Do we wait until we are both out of debt (which could be a few years) or do we go ahead and take the next step? Our lifegroup was very encouraging and willing to help with everything. They basically said if we want to be married in September to make plans like we are getting married then and to put faith in God that He will provide. They started discussing how we could do the flowers ourselves and how we could do the cake and all that stuff. It was so funny! By the time we left, they pretty much had everything for our wedding taken care of. He’s also teaching how extremely important our lifegroup is to us.
Last night, David and I went to church to hear Dave Ramsey speak. As we were walking out a guy in our lifegroup was yelling at us to get our attention. He asked if he could talk to us. So of course we said yes. The 3 of us sat down at a table. This man in our group said he felt, after our discussion at group on Sunday, called to help us out. He had a couple of rings that he sold at a pawn shop and wanted to give us the money to put towards a ring. He said it’s not much but will at least get us started. I was SPEECHLESS! How can someone be so selfless?! David and I both teared up…not really knowing what to say. He also said his wife works part-time for a catering company and they would be willing to take care of all the catering and linens and stuff like that for our wedding. What an awesome God we serve! God has really been teaching me to give over my finances to Him recently and I have been so blessed.
How has God blessed you with Godly friends and fellow lifegroupers?
Here is a quick synopsis of one of my new favorite movies: Successful and single businesswoman Kate Holbrook has long put her career ahead of a personal life. Now 37, she’s finally determined to have a kid on her own. But her plan is thrown a curve ball after she discovers she has only a million-to-one chance of getting pregnant. Undaunted, the driven Kate allows South Philly working girl Angie Ostrowiski to become her unlikely surrogate. Simple enough … After learning from the steely head of their surrogacy center that Angie is pregnant, Kate goes into precision nesting mode: reading childcare books, baby-proofing the apartment and researching top pre-schools. But the executive’s well-organized strategy is turned upside down when her Baby Mama shows up at her doorstep with no place to live. An unstoppable force meets an immovable object as structured Kate tries to turn vibrant Angie into the perfect expectant mom. In a battle of wills, they will struggle their way through preparation for the baby’s arrival. And in the middle of this tug-of-war, they’ll discover two kinds of family: the one you’re born to and the one you make.
A few months ago I saw this movie for the first time. It immediately became one of my favorites…because I could totally relate to Kate Holbrook (Tina Fey). I’m definitely not as ‘advanced in age’ as she was in the movie but feel the pressure to have kids…because I want a lot. So lately I’ve been seeing babies and pregnant women EVERYWHERE. It reminds me so much of this movie where Kate sees babys’ heads on everyone she comes into contact with. Maybe I like it so much cause it makes me feel like I’m not the only looney who thinks this way.
Here are a few of the cards I just added to Swanky Panky Designs. Go check ’em out. Also, keep on eye on new items coming VERY soon!
So it’s that time again…golf season!! I am so excited. David and I went a couple of weeks ago to Broadmoore Country Club and played. We had a blast! The very first hole I got a par. I was pumped!! Wait to start out the season. Here are my favorite pictures.
Last Wednesday I had the EGD procedure done and the doctor said everything looked ok. Friday I had an ultrasound on my abdomen and the only thing they could rule out was gall stones. She was going to send the ultrasound to my doctor and I have a follow up appointment with him next Monday.
I’m still in a little pain but not quite as bad as it has been. I’m hoping they find out what it is very soon. Thanks for all your prayers!
